If Gryffindor is for the brave, why is Ron Weasley in this house? Isn't he always scared about something?

He is a scaredy-cat, I'll agree with you there. But isn't the true definition of fear not the absence of fear but doing what needs to be done even though you're afraid? If you look at it that way, Ron's one of the bravest guys ever.
The REAL question is, why is Hermione not in Ravenclaw?

Also consider his actions with the Chess Game in "Sorcerer's/Philospher's Stone". That was brave and more than a bit self-sacrificing. He's an incredibly loyal friend, when he isn't working through growing up. ; )

He's snuck past a giant three-headed dog, fought his way across a chessboard, ventured into the Chamber of Secrets, gone inside the Shrieking Shack, snuck out of school to break into the Ministry, faced down an army of Death Eaters... I don't know. It makes up for a fear of spiders.

Ron is pretty brave. At least, he stands by his friends and faces his fears. What confuses me is his brother Percy. I mean he is not really or at least he never demonstrated anything other than blind obedience to rules and established authority.

I think it is set up that if you're part of a family the whole family is in the same house. I believe that's how that works.

haha, that is a good question. i suppose otherwise him and harry wouldn't be friends. also, deep inside, if harry needs something ron will help him even if he is scared. (example:the spider incident) also...he is hot. so are his brothers! hehe.

Students are not sorted into their houses by their personality traits. According to JKR they are sorted into their houses by the trait that's more valuable to them.
