Your father sounds very cynical. To give him the benefit of the doubt, maybe in HIS day women did do that and probably a VERY FEW still do. I think that in this day and age most women want the independence and personal satisfaction that a career will offer them. When you meet a nice woman trust your instincts and don't rush into anything. You're young. Have Fun!
Good Luck!

You're in college, have fun. Who cares. I'm sure that if you are smart enough to get into college than you have to be smart enough to weed out the gold diggers. If not, play cheap for a little while, go dutch. What ever. Have fun. The "adult world" can wait a little, you are not there to look for a spouse, you are there to get an education. It's college, HAVE FUN. That, and you will know when the right one comes along, you just feel it. And, don't forget to listen to your friends. Sometime they pick up on something that you may be missing (or blind to)

With this father, and these kind of advise you never be able to met a nice woman; but, the danger is that finally you hate all women and be left alone.

There is nothing in this world as 'good' or 'bad' men or women.

However, there is something in this World that called a "Perfect Match!"

All those family who are happy; they were able to find a Perfect Match for themselves.

YOU with this weak character that have described from yourself, it is better to try to grew up first, then think about important things in life, like job and woman!

HAHA That's funny... I would think that if a woman is going to college (as I did), then she has some incling to actually have a career and take care herself. I think that if I had just wanted to be a gold-digger, I would have saved myself the trouble of actually getting through school.

I would imagine if a woman was in college she would be able to make her own money and be self-sufficiant. And not every woman is a gold digger.

There are genuine "love diggers" out there. You just have to know where to look.

Not all women are gold diggers if you know what kind of woman you want to be with then you will see for yourself if she is the one that is why you get to know a girl before tieing the knot. You just have to see for yourself and if you see the signs then dump her.

I say go with your own common sense. Your father's advise was good but I think you are taking it a little bit too literally. When you meet a girl that seems interested in you, you really have to get to know that person well and don't jump to any rash decisions. It should not take too long to figure out who is playing you and who is genuine using common sense.

You have to talk to them and get to know them. Some women are there for their MRS degree, but most are there to get an education.

edit - No, your father is mistaken. The nice ones are usually nice people. Of course there are bad apples, but in general if the girl is nice to you, she is probably just a nice person.

Maybe you should stay away from College girls. Hey, here's an idea, give me a call! I'm single and not in college.

I'm pretty sure you'll know. You don't want the ones that want you to buy her things all the time or pay her bills for her or pay to get her nails or hair done or pay for her clothes. You want a woman that wants an education too. One that doesn't mind working for what she wants, even if it means having to save for months to get it.
