How long must you keep a lip piercing in your lip before you can take it out?

My mother wont let me get my lip pierced just because when i turn 16, i have to get a job and she thinks the lip ring will affect me getting a job. But I told her it depended on how long I had it in I could take it out...so if someone could tell me (the truth) preferably from a good source, id appericiate the help.

Do yourself and your Mom a favor and don't get it. It looks bad, unprofessional, and you'll wonder why you even bothered before very long. Don't follow the crowd. Chart your own course!
