My fave cute gift is a gift certificate for say In N Out or McDonalds or something and a sweet Christmas card. They come in $5 increments, so it would be cheap and something they would actually use.

I started exchanging xmas ornaments with my not so close friends that is a cheap gift 1.00 or 3.00 a piece and that way it will be something that you can always have and keep kinda like a keepsake gift. for years to come and later on in life that is something that someone will always remember you by and with every ornament it will remind you of a old friend form school? what do ya think, I liked the idea and I am sharing it with you. good luck girl

A lottery ticket and a card.
Some cookies that you made yourself.
A Christmas decoration you made yourself.
Flavored chapsticks, one-time use cameras, chocolates.
There's probably lots of things you could do if you're willing to spend $5, however, so I would just go shopping and see what's available in that price range.

McDonald's gift certificates, a movie pass, look for sales on gloves and/or scarfs (they are all over the place this time of year), a one use camera so they can take holiday pictures, go to the dollar store, a photo album. Have fun.

I paint ornaments for my friends. Go someplace like Hobby Lobby or any other craft store and go nuts! There are all kinds of ornaments you can make from painting pre-made plaster or wood ornaments to decorating glass ornaments by rolling different colors of paints in them or stuffing them with potpourri. Also you could begin a scrapbook for each of your friends and give it to them and ask them to keep adding to it. I personally don't get into scrapbooking but I know a lot of people do....its very popular!

I always give cookies or candy to people I don't want to forget but can't afford expensive gifts. Everybody loves food! Or if you have time get fudge or brownie mixes and make your own, you can decorate it to make it unique and special.
