Gryfindor - House colors are red (primary) and yellow. House animal symbol is a lion. Godric Gryfindor sought out noble-hearted students that were smart, loyal, and brave. Those that are couragous of heart and honorable are often picked for this house. Members of Gryfindor House can be as smart and studious as a Ravenclaw without being so stuffy and just as ambitious as a Slytherin, without the whole tendancy to become a self-centered, coniving, Dark Sider.

Ravenclaw - House colors are blue (primary) and Black. House animal symbol is a raven. Rowena Ravenclaw sought bright intelligent students. Knowledge, creativity, and academic excellence are the valued traits among Ravenclaw members. Those that are inventive and scholarly are often chosen for this house. Ravenclaw students tend to be "brainy" or "Bookworms" and often end up inventing new magic items, creating new spells, and researching various projects.

Slytherin - House colors are green (primary) and sliver. House animal symbol is a snake. Salizar Slytherin sought out ambitious students with strong wizarding bloodlines. Power and strength, in all its forms, whether physical, magical, political or economic are all valued traits. Pure-bloods with a strong drive to excel are often picked for this house. Unfortunately the quest for power and success becomes an all-consuming obsession for many of Slytherin's members and those that have not fallen to the Dark Side are often still a greedy, cruel, arrogant, and selfish lot.

Hufflepuff - House colors yellow (pirmary) and black. House animal symbol is a badger. Helga Hufflepuff valued kindness and friendship and sought any student willing to learn. The varied and diverse members of Hufflepuff allow for many friends among the other houses. It is through the blending and acceptance among this unique mix of Hufflepuff students where the house draws its strength. Those picked for this house are not inferrior to the other houses. Its members can be just as brave, ambitious, smart, loyal, and inventive as members from other houses.

Gryffindor is for the brave; it holds most of the "good guys." It was founded by Godric Gryffindor, and it's mascot is a lion. Although the bravery of its students often cause them to lose house points, their heroic nature helps them to win the cup.

Ravenclaw is for the intelligent--the ones who often are talanted (and usually good guys too) but are not as brave, cool, or prone to winning as the Gryffindors. Founded by Rowena Ravenclaw, it often comes in second in the house and quidditch championships.

Hufflepuff is for the loyal and hardworking and was founded by Helga Hufflepuff. Its characters are minor and usually kind of wimpy. They usually either come in third or lose most events. They're definitely good, but they can't fight or do anything right.

Slytherin, founded by Salazar Slytherin, is the sly, sneaky, and generally evil house. They are hated by the other three houses, and often lose house and quidditch competitions because of the last-minute heroism of the Gryffindors. They are almost all pureblooded and Death Eaters, and they are cruel and ruthless.
