my school's having 1, and im not sure what to wear.
any suggestions?

It can be anything from a dress, pantsuit, dress pants and nice blouse. Some people dress up more than others even at semi formal affairs. So, as long as it isn't jeans or casual wear you are fine. Just think of a wedding or a babtism and up from there. Good luck. Guys wear dress shirts with tie and jacket isn't a must but, looks better and not a tux. Less casual than a prom.

Actually this happened to me at my school...
I was going to a semi-formal dance, and I wasn't sure if I should dress up or not. So i wore a cute knee-length dress, over a pair of dark jeans (or normal!)It turned out to be a more formal dance, so I just went into the bathroom and took off the jeans! It was perfect!

Wear something you would feel comfortable in.
Wear something nice but not a fancy dress, if its stated "Semi-formal".

Definately a cocktail dress. Jeans aren't even allowed at my school's semi-formal dances!

A short dressy dress or cocktail dress as a female and the males wear a suit or sport coat not a tux.

You wear something nice but not a fancy dress. I would suggest nice dark jeans and a elegant shirt.
