I would do the whole seven wonders of the world thing...

Australia...Great Barrier Reef
China...Great Wall of China
Egypt...Pyramids
Greece...Statue of Zeus at Olympia
Kenya...The Serengeti and Masai Mara Plains

Below is a list of all the Seven Wonders. There are more than one Seven Wonders list (Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, Natural World, Travel World, and the New Seven Wonders list). The ones I listed above are just a few of the places I want to visit. The link below will give you all the Seven Wonders. Happy Traveling!

Thanks to the U.S. Navy I've been lucky to visit a whole bunch of countries so from personal experience here are my favorite port visits - the countries where they had the best "adventure", nicest people and best shopping - in no particular order:
Hong Kong
Italy (Venice, Rome and Naples - Capri)
Peru
Colombia (Cartagena - you would have to travel via another country if you are in the US, but it's worth it - Cartagena is a VERY safe city!)
Australia
Tahiti
Malaysia (just about anywhere - the people are wonderful, the scenery is great and the shopping is AWESOME!)
France
Greece (the food is fantastic)
Turkey (food and culture)
I could go on and on but those are probably my favorite places to visit. Good luck with your travels - it's a wonderful world you should go out and see it!!

I've been to quite a few countries but the ones I have been back to more than once are Singapore, Thailand, Turkey and Egypt. They are all great for different reasons. You can't go everywhere, so you will have to chose between different countries and plan your trip so that you actually spend some time in a place and not just rush through it.
Also, good to see Nepal becoming safe and accessible again.
