Yes, you can get pregnant while still nursing. I conceived while breastfeeding twice.

If you meet ALL of these conditions -
- baby is less than 6 mos old
- mom's period has not returned
- baby nurses on demand around the clock with no supplements of any kind
then breastfeeding is just as effective as condoms for birth control.

The first time you ovulate will be BEFORE you bleed, so you'll most likely be fertile before you know that it has occured, unless you watch your body's signals very carefully. (Cervical position, cervical mucous, temp charting, etc.)

It is normal for you to not have a period yet. My periods returned at 10 mos postpartum, 9.5 mos and about 16 mos with my last baby. Some moms don't have a period the entire time they nurse.

The reason people don't think that they can get pregnant while breastfeeding is because you are less likely to conceive while breastfeeding although certainly not impossible. It's the body's natural birth control. I got pregnant while breastfeeding my son. I breastfed about 5-8 times in a 24 hour period. He was 9 months old at the time and I was taking the "mini pill" also when I became pregnant with my second child and never started my period back. The mini pill is one of the few types of bc that you can take while breastfeeding b/c it only has progesterone in it and to be effective you must take it at the same time every day. That may be an option or the depo provera shot if you're not already pregnant and don't want to be quite yet.

Lactation and nursing produces hormones which normally inhibit the normal monthly cycle in a woman. However, all things being what they are, not all women respond to those hormones the same and not all women produce those hormones at the same level!

So yes it is possible to get pregnant while nursing. The uterus will usually need 2-3 normal cycles before it is completely healed after pregnancy or if no period roughly the same time frame of 2-3 months. Doctors usually advise refraining from intercourse at least six weeks and then with protected sex. (As we know not always practiced.)

Changes in the nursing schedule, weaning, and other hormone influencing behaviors may make a woman susceptible to a return to the monthly cycle and it may be that they are inconsistent from month to month. So don't trust in having no prior cycle or the adage that nursing women don't get pregnant. You can get pregnant while nursing, so take precautions if you want to avoid this.

Yes you can. For the first six months ecological breastfeeding (baby gets no bottles [not even pumped milk], no pacifiers, is nursed on demand, is not separated from mom, sleeps in mom's bed, etc.) is as effective as the pill. After that it is not. With only five nursing sessions per day you could definitely get pregnant. But you might be one of those women who doesn't ovulate if you are nursing at all. You might want to chart and see if you are fertile (try reading the books _Taking Charge of your Fertility_ and _Breastfeeding and Natural Child Spacing_).

If you have been struggling to fall pregnant, there are some useful tips that may help to increase your chances of conceiving and prevent miscarriages. Read here https://tr.im/pregnancyhelp

Follow a healthy, balanced diet by eating plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables as well as foods that are rich in iron, calcium and folate, essential for reproductive health
Maintain a healthy weight as being overweight or underweight can affect the body’s hormone levels which in turn makes conception difficult
Healthy weight loss can increase chances of getting pregnant; however, too much weight loss can affect a healthy pregnancy
Regular exercise such as walking, swimming or cycling will help keep you fit and active before and during your pregnancy. It will also help get you back into shape after the pregnancy
Avoid drinking alcohol and caffeine as this can make you less fertile

u can most definitely get pregnant while breastfeeding, its not always good to because the new baby needs the nourishment and it could take from the baby that is breastfeeding. U would have to make sure your 7 month old is getting the right amount of nourishment.

Yes it is possible. The chances of it happening are more likely, when they are eating food in addition to nursing. When they are newborn and are nursing exclusively, the chances are slim. If you haven't gotten your period, most likely you aren't ovulating, but it is still a possibility, so don't rely on it as birth control if you don't want to get pregnant.
