You might be running stand alone apps on your PC after you play an MMO, or you might still be connected slightly with one of the servers the game runs on. Sometimes your PC might save some of your stats and items on your PC, and it needs some time to syncronize with the stream of information. The most time it would need is 15 minutes.

truthfully, just give it time to cool off. leave it alone for about an hour. mine does the same thing
