I was arrested and sent to jail for two days and nights. Someone had stolen my purse and use my social security number to make fradulent checks. On the same day the person stole a woman's credit card a made 1000s of dollars worth of purchases. So two weeks later they picked me up for it. It was on a Friday night, i didn't have any idea why they were picking me up. I spent the first night in the most disgusting place on earth, just awful. the next morning I was transfered to the city that had sent the warrent out for my arrest. I went through a gruesome interrogation, name calling by the officers and everything. During the whole time I was telling him that it wasn't me. He told me that they did a handwriting analysis and it was a match. Also he told me that some identified me from a security camera. There was nothing I could say that would convince him. I have a 15 month old and the thought of going to prison for 5 years terrified me. I bond out for 500. They found the real girl. What?

What a horrible experience for you!
As far as getting the bail money back, it depends. If you went through a bondsman you would go through them to get your money back. If you paid cash then you go to what every Justice or Superior Court the case was filed in. Call the jail and they should be able to direct you.

The bond is to ensure you show up in court and would be returned to whoever posted it when the matter is resolved as far as I know. If the charges have been dropped for whatever reason, then the bond should be returned as well. You were probably assigned a lawyer if you don't have one, so ask them how to get the money back .. and consider suing for false arrest.

I don't understand the last line of your story. "They found the real girl. What?" I am not sure what that means.

You might want to consider talking to a laywer in your area. They may be able to tell you a few options you have. Without seeing a police report it is seriously difficult to give you a good answer.

Good luck to you.

You need to go talk to the county attorney where you were arrested. They can tell you what steps to take. I would think that since they did find the person who actually did the crime, you would be able to get your money back.
