It means that your DVD player can play DVD's from other parts of the world. You can't do that w/ most other players. "Regions" is how the world has been broken down for movies, music, etc... but I only remember that Region 3 is Asia, so you'd be able to play a DVD straight from Korea, etc. Your DVD player just happens to have the language set on Spanish, but you can easily change it to the language of your choice w/ your remote.
