Yes it is okay to format your PC because that will erase everything on your hard drive including any viruses, trojans, spyware, malware. And then reinstalling windows, which can be a pain - but can also be rewarding since it eliminates any other problems you might have on your PC plus it sure beats forking over $$$ buying a new computer.

But honestly if this just happened recently you might wanna just try doing a system restore back to a time prior to this incident (assuming you have WinXP or WinMe)

If that don't work, go into add/remove programs and remove anything obvious 1st such as unwanted search bars, toolbars or shopathome network | 2nd try a simple FREE spyware remover such as Spybot search and destroy or Ad-Aware (I'm not a fan of these by the way). I think it's a conspiracy between the Anti-this and Anti-that companies capitalizing on our utter Fear of having our treasured PC's infected by something - but that's another topic

Lastly removing spyware can often become a tedious and daunting task. So next time, as a preventive measure, keep your computer up to date (all service pack updates from Microsoft) And also don't rely on Internet Explorer only as your web browser. Mozilla Firefox is becoming very popular. Try alternating between the two.

Virus Burster is part of the trojan. A lot of trojans these days will give you pop-ups to download more malware.

Here is a link for this specific malware:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic70074.html

And a snip from the link:
" VirusBursters is a anti-spyware program that is known to issue fake warnings on your computer in order to manipulate you into buying its full commercial version. The program is generally installed by a Trojan that automatically downloads and installs the program."

If you want to format your hard drive to get rid of it, you might want to invest in an external hard drive that you can use to back up all the files you want.

OK, so you download something, and it gives you a computer virus that tells you you have a virus, and asks you to download something else? Don't do it. Whatever they want you to download probably has another virus.

Formatting the PC, or doing a repinstall will kill most any virus out there. The trouble is it kills most everything else on your computer too.

What you have on your computer is most likely spyware, not a virus at all. Some companies that try to get you to buy their software give you false warnings like you discribe.
I believe there is no need to format, just do a online scan, and there are many free ones available, but one of the best in my opinion is here - http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ - and at the end of the scan it will allow you to delete what it finds.
The program will download a small file to your computer, and it is completely safe, I use it often. I rate it very good.
Hope this works for you - it did many times for me.

thats just pop-up ads to get you to buy there products, you should already have a antivirual program on your computer that would have alerted you to have it removed or would remove it automatically.

go to control panel. add, remove programs and remove that **** program from your computer...
