I would say one third of the students are smart. This is how admission to IV League schools is divided: Those with 4.0 GPA and perfect SAT scores, those that had relatives that went there, and those whose parents are going to make a big financial contribution to the school (they really like those because those schools are private).

They are smarter than most or at least their parents were rich and/or they had ancestors who left money to the school.
Good grades and SATs don't mean somebody can be creative or can think.
I have 44 Grad Credits from Harvard Extension and I'm not that smart. Got good grades mostly too.

Harvard, Yale, and Berkeley (etc.) kids tend to be smarter according to the indicators that are in place to measure ability, but there are handfuls of kids at less prestigious schools who can compete with them in every way. In my experience the very best at any given Cal State school is no different than a committed student at Cal Berkeley.

don't be ridiculous. those who earn immediately A's are frequently helped or compelled to achieve this, yet each and every now and back you'll discover someone who easily is attempting their toughest because they prefer to achieve fulfillment in existence. this is real that some if the neatest persons drop out if college contained in the first year, yet that would not make the failing scholars any extra powerful. I skill come on, Edgar Allan Poe dropped out of faculty by way of undesirable grades and skipping classification, yet to in the present day he's seen one u . s .'s nicely proper writers. this is not that those who drop out are not wise, as shown with the help of ways Poe dropped out and is a literary genius in in the present day's international, this is because they are given an monstrous quantity if stress to do extra powerful than they could. in certain situations the stress is from others, yet maximum if the time this is self inflicted. those who get sturdy grades get into sturdy colleges, and that i will make particular that acquiring into Harvard or Westpoint is a gargantuan heap of stress placed upon their shoulders. they don't drop out because they prefer to or are not wise adequate, up they particularly regularly benefit this because the stress makes it not plausible to imagine correct, and no one needs to get right into a sturdy college absolutely to flunk out. So rather i have self belief your opinion is somewhat inaccurate, and at the same time as those who get D's and F's do get major job promises, they at the instantaneous are not something in research to the features of an wise individual who can take advantage of suggested intelligence lower than intense stress.

Nope, there's a lot of kids that go there who's parents give large amount of money to the school.
Your selling yourself short if you assume that they are smarter. More than likely, parents are just wealthier.

My guess is they aren't "smarter than everyone else" but they are certainly in the top percentiles...ie the VERY top percentiles, along with the best and brightest at many top schools.
