If you need to save any information from your laptop try this. If your laptop has a floppy drive create a start up floppy. The laptop will boot to the floppy disk then you can use a few simple dos programs to check to see if your data is still on the computer. You will need to use a program call "Fdisk" this will let you view, create, or delete a partition. If you have a partition still on your computer you will need to check to see if it is formatted.
exit "Fdisk" and type "c:" this will switch you from your floppy disk to the hard disk. then type "dir" this will give you a directly listing of your hard drive. if you see a large list of you programs on the screen then your data is still available on your laptop. At this point you can copy some of your data to floppy disks if you need to.

If you don't need to save any data then get a factory made windows cd with registration key and put it in your cdrom. Restart the laptop and it should boot to the cdrom. Windows will run you through the whole process on formatting partitioning and installing windows.

Looks like your hardrive is gone. Either been erased by virus or died. When you boot, does it make a noisy clunky sound? If so the drive is most likely dead. If no sound and you just get a blank screen when boot up, then your hard disk may have been formatted. If so, hard to recover info without spending money for the service to do so.

If you get something when you boot, then it should be recoverable. Suggest you get a friend to make you a boot disk and boot from the CD drive and try to recover from there.

Sounds extra like the processor is overheating ... i can not credibly propose you regardless of if that's the case inclusive of your laptop, yet desktops that close down seconds after switching on are purely approximately surely overheating because of the fact the heatsink isn't bonded nicely to the processor
