To get your learner's permit in California, you need two certificates. One shows that you have taken classroom training and the other shows that you are enrolled in a behind the wheel driving school. The first step is getting your classroom training. You can do this from home at www.teendrivingcourse.com. Here you sing up and once you have completed the course, they mail you a certificate that you can take to the DMV. If you use this code (REF00A638) you get a five dollar discount. Once you have this certificate, take it to a driving school to sign up for behind the wheel training. When you sing up, they will give you a certificate that shows you are enrolled in a driving school, but you can't start driving yet. So now you have two certificates. Take these two certificates to the DMV and take the written exam. If you pass the written exam, you receive your learner's permit. Once you have your learner's permit, you go back to the driving school you signed up with and start your behind the wheel training. After completing your first lesson, you can drive under the supervision of an adult who is at least 25 years old and has a driver's license.
