I think everyone is inhibited... to some degree... by something. Otherwise, we would all be experiencing higher levels of success and happiness in life than we currently are. In line with this thought, I'm wondering what you think is the main thing that's preventing you from experiencing the level of success (or happiness) you desire.

I think the primary block is not believing in yourself or your ability to succeed. Sometimes that is caused by your own negativity, or it could be caused by others telling you that you can't do anything and that your goals are beyond you. Just listen to the song "I believe I Can Fly." Read some motivational books from the library or used book stores, if you can't afford to buy them.

Health, poverty, age, and other excuses are just that. Look at what disabled people can do that is far beyond what healthy people do.

I think that one reason why people cannot attain full happiness is because they have guilt in their conscience. You cannot be comfortable with success unless you are comfortable with yourself. Success wouldn't feel right if you knew in your mind that you kept someone else from it.
Also, the inability of letting go of past emotional turmoil may be a tree trunk in the middle of your road to happiness. Sometimes people are just not willing to let go. They sometimes have problems stopping grieving over a lost love one or a break-up. They are busy being sad about it and crying over it day after day that they are denying themselves the right to be happy. They don't realize that the only way to achieve happiness is to relieve themselves of emotional turmoil and learn from their mistakes to make their future brighter.

You are right we are all held back by different things, and sometimes things we might even love or enjoy.
I think I am held back by my idea of what other's think of expect of me. Esteem of others, if you will.
I always find myself thinking "If I did think, that would just make me look a hypocirte in front of my friends, as I have so far acted like this".
Therefore, I tend to do the things the way I know others will be more familiar with in line with my personality, and what they think of me thus.

Good guestion. I think that most people including myself, sees ourselves as being pretty smart. Smarter than the average person and definitely smarter than the people we work for. The reason some people don't succeed in life is because they don't try. Because if they try and fail, it may mean that we are not actually very smart, very intelligent. So to be safe, we don't try.

One word, anxiety. I am super paranoid. I love women but think they all have AIDS so I do not date. I love food but think people spit in it so I don't go out and eat too often. I love taking walks but think people will try to jump and or rob me so I stay in the house. If I could kill this anxiousness there will be no stopping me. And I am killing it slowly but surely, with the help of God.

It's not taking risks. I'm not saying all risks are good. Only ones that are safe and will cause no harm are the good ones. If we don't take risks, we don't gain. Everything is a risk, although not all risks can change your life.

So silly... everyone is right where they are as they are. Just being a spiritual being is successful... what you talk about is the overly well trained busy mind talking.

I accept boredom way too easily in my life. If I could learn to reject boredom, I might actually finish my novel!
