Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Black Sabbath, and Kiss. In that order.
By the way, how could you leave out Deep Purple?? They were the pioneers of metal next to the Jeff Beck Group.

Led Zeppelin has influenced the most and is probably more widely regarded as being ground-breaking.
Kiss was all about the 'concert experience' not so much music.
Black Sabbath was a little too niche.
AC/DC is great, but not innovative.

Better at What?
Zepplin had the best musicians, AC/DC had the cachiest tunes, and nobody (cept maybe the stones) puts on a live show like the original Kiss.
