It's unique. I'm sure that you will like it if you choose it. Try not to stress over what to name the baby. Whatever you choose you can always use the middle name and there are always nick names.
Personally if I just had to go with Gunner, I would put a strong or more traditional name with it. For example Ethan Gunner or Gunner Blake or something like that. Are there any family names that you could pair with it?

I happen to know a Gunner. And the name suits him well. It's a strong name.

Gunner is the dogs name on Jimmy Neutron. So I am not sure that I would like it as a boys name. It kinda goes as a dog name.

My cousin has a dog named Gunner. Seriously though, if you like it, just use it. There will be people who will be critical of whatever name you pick, so just go with something you like.
