Sadly, the bills with the biggest additional penalty get paid first, the nice guys with minimal or no penalty got delayed payment.

If it is a really nice creditor, call and tell them when you will pay, and do it.

I pay all my bills especially the creditors and my phone bill. My utility bill is shared with roommates and he is understanding that I am LOW on finances right now, but I pay what I can. The other bills I owe to my sister can wait.

When I was in that position, due to limited funds, I would do the following:

Always pay rent, credit cards and car.

Skip on utilities. I would pay them when I got the final notice.

rent and car first followed by utilities and then credit cards. If you don't pay on the credit cards you won't be able to use them, but at least you paid the utilities so you can still have heat and light.
