Ok, I am an eighteen year old, a sophomore and studying mechanical engineer. Recently I have many questions and I am nhot certain what to do with my life. I do not even know if I want to be an engineer anymore and even if I will become and engineer then what. I wonder whar is going to happen once I start a carrer. I see many grownups around me with kids, family and property and is as if I want to hurry to become a real adult. How will I become like them, finantially secure, responsable, reliable and organized witch are traits I barely posses. Have you even be in this situation and how did you (or still deal) with this?

Find out what you love, and find a career that deals with it. Never trade your integrity for it, but always remember if push comes to shove and nothing seems for you within the business anymore, you can always start your own doing it your way, and because your passionate about it, it won't seem like too much work at all, if even that. Be yourself and stop comparing yourself to the "Grownups" you'd be surprised how much like them you don't want to be when you really got to the nitty gritty of their lives.

You are doing just great, at 18 at least you are thinking about all the important questions in life. Set goals, like a previous answer, figure out what you love and what kind of a life you want, what do you want to be when you are all grown up, have a family etc. Achieving goals is one way you can have a very satisfactory life. Almost all jobs have its advantages and disadvantages, no matter what you become professionally, you have to work hard the same. Take it one step at a time, each of the things you mentioned, start doing it now, once you start doing it on a regular basis, you will form habits, think positive. The best answer lies within you. You just need to make up your mind and then stay the course on whatever you decide.

The first thing you need to do is relax. Your still young and you have plenty of time ahead of you. The world will still be here when you decide what it is you really want to do. At 18 I was having fun and working full time for the first time. What is your passion in life? What is the one thing that you do that you love? Can you make a business out of it? Looking at what other people have is normal, everyone wants the car, house 2.6 kids. You are at the age of self discovery of who you will be, and you will still have questions throughout your life, about your life and the direction you have chosen. The path to a higher education is important and you must decide that path you will ultimately follow. Having a degree is important as it allows you to be self sufficient and beholding to no one.Stay with it. When the time is right you will meet the right person and all will fall into place. You and you alone are the master of your destiny and you will be fine.
As for watching your finances, make a budget and stick with period, no if's and but's about it. After three months it will become natural to work within your budget and it gets easier from there. Plan on hiding any extra money you get and do not touch it. It will come in handy in the future when you relocate to a new city for your chosen vocation. By that point you will be accustomed to working with a budget and very disciplined about money and your ability to organize your life. Before you walk you crawl, before you run you walk, by the time you have completed school you will be running and loving it!

The very best to you!

It takes time to become financially secure, responsible and organized. Don't be so hard on yourself. I don't blame you for wanting the whole home and family dream, but these things come in time. Owning a home and having kids are both great things, but they do curtail your freedom in some ways. Enjoy the time to explore the world and your own ideas. If you feel really nervous about what direction your career should go in, you can talk to a professor you like, or to a counselor at your college. In the meantime, enjoy your time.

Well You should keep in mind that if you are studying you should be doing something you enjoy in my case I was accepted through industrial chemistry but i thought hey i don't want to be stuck in a lab. Second be very open minded to different ways to enter your particular industry. Having credit is an essential part to being an adult start off buy having a small credit card account and buy slowly and responsibly paying it off that way you will be opening the right doors to any financial decisions you make later on in life.

When your younger people dream of being a fireman ,policeman, teacher and so on. If you truly dont know what you want to do, think about what you like or what your passion is.You should do something you like to do because it makes getting up for work alot easier to do when you want to go to work not because you have to.....
