Yes swimming is a real sport! Swimming is one of the hardest sports. I would know since I have been swimming for 12 years. I swim two practices a day (before and after school) for a total of 3 1/2 or 4 hours depending on the day. I end up swimming about 12000 yards when I have doubles and when I only swim in the afternoon I still swim a good 7500 yards. Swimming is really hard and swimming is not only 5 days a week as people say, I always swim 6 days a week and sometime 7 days a week.

Hell yeah it is. I'm in season right now and i know people from other sports who say that swimming is by far the hardest sport to train for. You have to control your breathing all the while holding proper form. Most people who havent swum competitevely can't swim 50 yards without having the wind knocked out of them. Most schools have practices where you swim a total of 3500 yards which is basically 2 miles in 2 hours.

I really love swimming. Swimming combines sport and recreation. But it burns calories effectively. So I consider it as a real sport.

Yes, Swimming is definetly a real sport! You have practices and you work just as hard as any other person in different sports! And swim team work outs are incredibly self strengthening! Also it is exactly like track so do you consider track a sport? So yea swimming is like one of the best sports!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No of course swimming isn't a sport, anyone who swims will tell you that...we just get up early for practice, endure the cold water, push ourselves so hard the we sometimes throw up from over exertion, sweat like crazy, get goggle rings around our eyes, smell like a pool all day everyday and Oh, sometime experience suit difficulties All Becuase We just enjoy tourturing ourselves...
nah, swimming isn't a sport at all

Swimming is a total body sport more so than a football "game".

swimming is a sport where you will have to move all your body parts in such a way that you will be able to move over water and that too with speed. you loses a lot of energy by swimming and you becomes more physically fit mentally tough by swimming only.

hell yes. its the hardest effing sport ive ever played. most people think its just swimming laps, but its so much more than that. every stroke and flipturn counts in improving your time. you have to work yourself really hard. not only does it test your physical strength, you also have to have a lot of will power if you want to survive on a swim team.
