how do you get into windows when you don't know the password and the administrator password has been changed

my father recently passed and his labtop is password protected for the windows and he also reset the seceret administrator password as well. we need to access the computer because his tax info is on it and my mother needs it to ger ss. please respond asap

Well there are a few things you can do, you can download software that allows you to boot from a CD or 3 1/2 A: drive and will go in and change the password ( a form of hacking) or try running a repair on the laptop (using the original Operating System CD) It will look as though you are about to wipe everything but choose REPAIR and not SETUP when you run this. Also see if he put a hint for his account. (Click on the little ? mark next to his user name when windows starts up).

Almost any tech has software that will bypass the password.... call your local computer store and have someone come by.
