I have a thick locket silver bracelet, but it is gold plated, I want to know if there is any way of removing the gold plating, it has already chipped away in some places and from wear and tear (it is about 7 yrs old), or can a jeweller remove it and if so, how much would it cost?

I never bought it, it was given to me as a 16th birthday present and it is sterling silver, just gold plated sterling silver.

Well, plating is only decimals of a millimeter thick.
So yes, you could take it to a jeweller, OR, you could just use what's called "pumice" (you can buy it in furniture stores - I recommend the finest grit so it won't scratch your silver) with some water and a toothbrush, or you could also try baking soda and a toothbrush. Anything SLIGHTLY abrasive.
Scrub, scrub, scrub!

Yea, that what this jewelry do. You can do what mentioned above and pay more than you paid. Never buy plated jewelry either buy "Sterling Silver" or "Real Gold". Silver, in my opinion, is a jealous metal, you need to wear it to cut tarnish, but, it will tarnish. But, I think it OK and never clean.

the jeweller could remove it they dip it in a special solution and the good news is that it only costs a few quid.
