plus some non-racey cars like that(even though they can be suped up) have a governor switch that limits the amount of throttle that can be given to it. if it doesn't, then yes it's the computer, you should be able to take it by a well known and reputable auto mechanic(tuner shops would be your best bet) and see if they can up the max speed or totaly take it off.

Cars will not go faster than, or will shut off at a set speed. This setting is done in the factory and can be over-ridden. BUT, my guess is that a pontiac sunfire wont do more than 110mph, I'm surprised and skeptical that it even does that.

hmmm...i dont' know why everyone is so gung ho about the top speed of their cars...you know, the speed limit is only what, 65 in most parts...there's no need to be worrying about why you can't get your car to go past 110...
and that first guy was right, factory settings...you can change that though...
