it starts off with 4 scientists working on a project in the garage. two of them are on a breakthrough. they abandon their partners and later discover that by spending an hour n a box they can go back in the past for an hour and relive that hour as long as they don't run into their "doubles".. suspicions arive and because of it they two scientist and their doubles fight a time war

Primer. It was low budget and they had the time machine hidden in a storage garage. I think it was shot around Dallas or Houston.
