The rear heating/cooling unit is having problems. It comes off and on occasionally. I checked the fuses and it is good. When it is quiet and I switch on the unit, I can hear something happen, but it doesn't activate the fan. It is wierd to the fact that it does periodically work. The last time it went "wierd" I had accelerated while climbing a steep hill. Any thoughts or suggestions would be much appreciated. 2002 Chevy Express Van.....

sounds like there is a short to the blower motor or the connections on the motor aren't tight.

I have a 2001 model myself. Has been good to me so far.
I would start by checking the coolant level for your engine compartment. Then maybe? the freon stuff for the air conditioning system if it isn't working properly. I know these rear units on these vans are very expensive to work on. I hope I don't ever have to. You may have a short in a wire or a loose one somewhere thats giving you intermitent problems.
Consider calling a reliable GM or Chevy Van dealer and see if one of their service advisors may be able to diagnose it for you by your descriptions and explanations. It may be something that they can find by hooking it up to their computer code machine.
Good Luck, I hope you solve your problem inexpensively.
