You can get viruses from both if you're not careful.
Here are some safe sites:
For any kind of Videos there's YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/
To download (save) videos from YouTube and any other site :
Get Firefox from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/
And then install the Download Helper extension from https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/3006/ or this one Video Downloader https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/2390
It works great for me.

Since the videos are in the .flv format you need to get a flv player. You can get a very good one (and completely free ) here http://www.download.com/FLV-Player/3000-2139_4-10505954.html?tag=tab_pub

If you want to convert them into another format ( mobile phone, iPods, psp, mp4...and anything else) use this awesome free program called Super http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html

Also you can use this site http://javimoya.com/blog/youtube_en.php and copy/paste the url's from the page with the video there but personally I'd recommend using Firefox

Firefox is the best !!!

And for movies and anything else use http://www.torrentportal.com/ and http://www.bittorrent.com/ and http://www.torrentspy.com/
To download from this site you need a torrent program like these :
BitComet http://www.bitcomet.com/ or
Azureus http://azureus.sourceforge.net/

I don't think myspace does, but the free version of Limewire might, because since it's the free version, your not getting a premium product. Therefore Limewire can't weed out the infected files for you.

So your best bet would be to pay the low monthly fee, then download, good quality music and videos

the internet itself is not safe. its possible to get worms, trojans, different variants of malware JUST from being connected to the internet.

Limewire is probably the safest p2p programs out there.. but you have to watch what you download. scan it with multiple programs before you open it. You can download the Pro version of limewire... from limewire, just scan the hell out of them. i got a brand new version of limewire free of malware.
I'd download music videos from bit torrent or something, limewire doesn't have much and i doubt myspace will have music videos in a high enough resolution worth watching..

to protect my computer, i use AVG Free, Ad-aware, Spybot S&D, Windows Defender, CCleaner, Sygate's Personal Firewall, Spyware Guard and SpywareBlaster Plus a bunch of little plugins from this place http://www.grc.com/default.htm

Yes, most of these free sites carry virus's especially if you are downloading naked pics and porn..... you can get a good antivirus if you want, you will need it. Regular songs I seldom get any virus's.

I would go with Itunes. Yes, it costs money, but its better than the added cost if you pick up something off of one of those sites.
