I know some of the features vary and the W810 costs a little more. But which one would you recomend? Also do you know if either phone will sync with an Apple computer?

Get the w810i. I have the w800 (which is almost identical but was the previous model with a few problems that they fixed in the 810) and have to say it's a seriously smart piece of kit.
The w300 doesn't allow you to use SD memory cards, instead you have to use another format which are more expensive. It's also worth pointed out that the w80i coems with a 512mb card as standard. The cost of this card on it's own mor then justifies the extra money. The w300 only comes with a 256mb card.
The camera on the w800i is also amazing quality. It's 2.0mPixel and has nice features like a light and auto focus. The w300 doesn't have the same resolution of 1/2 the functions and producs poor pictures and video.
If you can afford it...out of the whole walkman range the w850i is the one I'd recommend.
As for mac compatability, Sony's software that sycronises music files between your computer and phone is written exclusively for Windows. However my PC also sees the phone as a removable USB storage device and gives access to the folders. So in theory you should be able to manually drag and drop the files onto the phone using a mac.
