I am a begginer rider myself, and i found Young Rider very helpful. Horse Illustrated is O.K, but meant for if you have your own horse. Horse&Rider (U.K, can get it in canada) is very good as well

Young Rider. It's a perfect magazine for beginners and experienced riders, young and old. I live on a horse farm where my mom (and I) give riding lessons twice a week and horse camps in the summer. I grew up with horses and started really riding when I was about 7. I am 14 now and this magazine is still useful to me in several ways. I ride english too and this magazine is mainly english but usually has a western article in it. This sounds like a great magazine for you.

how old are you?

If you are young then Young Rider is the magazine I used to love! It has both Engish and Western in it.

Now I get Practical Horseman, it's all English and i love it! it is a little bit advanced but no more than any other magazine. You should at least look at it!

As for Horse and Rider, that is much more western! In fact, I don't think that I have ever seen any English in that one.

There are also things like Horse Illustrated which is just an overall horse magazine.

Horse Illustrated is really basic. I personally didn't really like it. Horse and Rider is wonderful, but it's western. However, if you look up their website on the internet the company that publishes them (equs? or something like that) will have links to other magazines of theirs, and they have english ones. Maybe check out your library to find some you like? http://www.amazon.com has the best deals on magazines - though horse and rider offers amazing subscribtion rates. I've never read Young Rider, so I can't really comment. I've heard it's great for 14 and under but after that is too boring and basic.

That is an awesome magazine! Other magazines I like are Horse IIlustrated, Horse & Rider (all western, but you can use the techniques in english too), and Equus (mostly horse health).

I subscribe to Horse Illustrated, and I think it would be great for anyone. (beginner, expert, english rider, western rider.)
It's really a great magazine and it covers a broad range of topics.
