Well more than likely it is called water hammering where water shuts off an on quickly several times. The sound then is transmitted thru the pipes if this is it you can replace the fill valve with a anti-hammer type and , Problem solved>

The problem you have is that the fill valve needs replaced or a new kit put in it. As the water level rises in the tank, the float starts squeezing down the water pressure. As the water starts slowing down, it "groins" and it passes by the worn seats and seals. I would suggest to replace the fill valve and your problems will go away!!!! Hope this helps!! Good luck!!

harry is right, though to add a worth a try solution. if you have an isolation valve on the pipe work leading to the float valve, try altering it a little, this sometimes stops the water hammer. 4-5 minutes is a long time to refill a toilet cistern.
Good luck

If you had to swallow pee and poop every day, you'd groan too.
It may be that there is air leak getting into it somehow. It might be a small hole so that's why it's doing that. Is it an old fashioned vented kind (has a pipe going up into the ceiling)? It might be that the vent is blocked somehow.

U need bigger water lines, ur are only 1/2" & u need 3/4'', I'd also check to see if ur drain pipe is well vented near the toilet line.

Sounds like a ventilation problem. Maybe the stack is blocked. This would cause the water to drain slowly or erraticly.

LMAO this question is so open to some crazy answers but the simple one is that you have air in the pipes. Get a plumber to bleed your pipes for you.

There might be something either wrong with the pipes or something stuck on the pipes... My advice.. Call a plumber to take a look at it.
