The thing is that I just like adventure and holidays which are out of the ordinary but 2 people today asked me why I was going to the DRC and Rwanda.. they seemed to think that I want to die.I was unable to offer a reason as to why I want to go there other than "well they are there"... which didn't help my cause.

Aside from telling people on this site [whom I don't know] I have decided not to tell anyonelse that I'm going now as I think it throws people...

No but you do sound like your are taking unneeded risks. May I suggest you buy the latest copy of the SAS survival guide and read it cover to cover.

Beware also that rape is rampant in war zones. I suggest you respect yourself enough to visit your local battered woman's or rape crisis center shelter. If after you have talked to a few victims you are still intent of traveling alone on your adventure, I respect you.

P.S. I hope you took self defense classes.

The fact that there is still a war going on in the congo is a big reason to avoid it. Join the army or something, They will send you to somewhere similar but at least they give you a gun first.
