Deck the Halls. You need to put a timer on their lights so they come on in the day and turn off at night.

I always go outside and put up ornaments -- as a Single Woman, during the short disaster of a marriage, and then as a Long Term Single parent -- it is something that I want to do.
A lot of it is to have my home decorated to express the joy I feel in my heart for the season -- to reflect on the blessings of the year, to know that I will be with my closest family (and possibly friends), and I want to make sure that the home reflects this good cheer of the season.
I don't look at it as competing -- I look at it as sharing the joy of the season. I do like it when my neighborhood is twinkling and all lit up at night when I come home from what I am doing, and it is just special at this time of year.

It is just them trying to show their jealousy. My neighbors were complaining about me even putting lights on my house today LOL....I haven't even gotten everything out yet,and they are complaining, wish they would move,or get evicted. Then tonight, they were standing out in their yard,(I had porch light off and was working with putting garland around a pole) and they were telling someone who had stopped to look at my lights how pretty they thought they were LOL go figure .........oh well,I have some "unique" lights, mine have 2 colors on each of the miniature bulbs,I got them at WalMart two yrs ago, they are neat and really look great at night. Just wait until I get all my stuff out, then they will really gripe LOL Merry Christmas to You and Yours

i don't know why, when i first moved in here with my hubby ten years ago, there wasn't one house on the block decorated .
after two years of me putting all kinds of deco out more then half of the places were decorated.
I don't know why but it sure looks a lot more festive now

Maybe it's your perception. They may not be trying to compete with you at all, but you may have a competitive or envious nature. Just appreciate it's beauty & don't view it as a competition.
