I'm not sure what area of the country you live in but found University's offering Educational programs for Safety & Environmental Programs.
I would do a search for your area and contact them to see how you can volunteer your time or take a course to become qualified to work in the field.

Search for a Wildlife Rehabilitation facility in your state, then contact them and they should help you with some information that you will need.
