most celebrated holiday here is New year, many fireworks and more food at our table than Christmas eve...so new year for me....

Christmas rocks. You remember Jesus birthday, make your children smile, eat too much (including chocolate) and totally enjoy your family.....New year's...you hang out with friends, wear dresses you can't afford, and get drunk.. Both are great in their own way.

i like both. one i get to go back home and spend christmas with my mom, my sisters, their kids, my grandma and my dad. we eat lots of turkey at 12 on the 24th and when we wake up the 25th we go downstairs to open the presents with all our kids and we have too much fun...
but then i love new years too, because we have the burning of the "años viejos or monigotes" which is like a doll made of paper mache of whatever you want it to be and we burn this thinkg with fireworks inside and lots of firewords the people have all around you. all of this at 12 and the people celebrate together. then we have different traditions like walking with suitcases around the block so you travel more this new year, or eating 12 grapes in one minute when the clock is saying 12 o clock. some people wear yellow for luck or red for love.
after we eat, around 1 or 130am we go out to a party until 10am the next morning.
so its hard for me to choose. i like both and they are both important and im always with my mom, sisters, nieces, grandma, my husband, my children, my whole family for both celebrations. how can i choose one over the other???

Christmas -- that is for sure. More food, lots more fun (opening the presents), longer day, and just happier time.
For New Year's Day -- it is just another day for me -- the same old chores, the same things to do -- and now ... taking down the Christmas Ornaments. I don't even stay up until midnight. It just is not something special.

I'd have usually said new year but this year its gna be christmas - not long had a baby complete change in life style.lol

both christmas is when you get drunk with the family and new years eve is when you get drunk with your mates..., and that midnight kiss with the one you love under the fireworks
