I haven't been paying much attention to the Red Wings especially with the NBA season beginning. I actually just went to the Detroit - Washington game last night. I think the Pistons will have good chances this year. But I'm not sure about the Red Wings. Detroit has been messing everything up late (Pistons in the finals, Tigers in the World Series) hopefully the Red Wings won't lose it in the Stanley Cup!
Go Detroit!

The Red Wings are caught in a transitional period. All of their big veteran scorers are gone, their D consists of elderly players and young inexperienced players...they have 4 decent lines, but they need everyone to contribute. Franzen and Samuellson are hacks that aren't 1st or 2nd line players, Zetterberg and Datsyuk need to take the positions of leaders and get this team back on its feet. They still have draper, who's a good PKer, but that's about it. They need to play Hudler more, because he's a significant part of their future.
Their goaltending needs work. Hasek is too frail and unreliable, and Osgood is declining. They're lucky the team is D oriented, otherwise they'd have a losing record.
Stanley Cup? Not likely. Once Chicago gets healthy and Columbus finds their scoring touch, you'll see the Wings pick up a lot less divisional wins; something that's padded their seasonal record for years, amking them seem better than they actually are.

They have to win regular season games in order to get to the finals to play for the Cup. Losing five games in a row is not the way to go about it.

You been away from the league for a while haven't you? They lost all of their strongest players I.E. Yzerman. Most of their wins have been on luck or poor playing by the other team...nothing spectacular and I would be suprised if they make playoffs.

IF last nights game is any indication they won't stand a chance in hell.
Granted Hasek wasn't in net but they got light up by the Preds.
