My son burnt popcorn last night and the house smells horrible. I opened up the windows for a little bit but it still did not get the burn smell out. I tried burning some candle and that still didnt work. Any one have any other ideas. It too cold to open up the windows.

I burned butter on our woodstove. Best thing to do is get a pot filled with 2 or 3 inches of water, put it on the stove. Add some cinnamon to it and let it boil for a few hours.

Also, put a bowl of vinegar in the room overnight. This works for cigarette smoke too.

If you have vinegar soak a dish towel in the vinegar, wring the towel out and then wave the towel around the room. Also you can twirl the towel over your head in the air. Or you can fill a few shallow dishes with vinegar and set them around the house and they will absorb the bad smells.

I've reccomended this quite a few times for a lot of harsh odors and every time, replies were positive.
Soak cotton balls in vanilla extract. place them all around the house. You can even pour some of the vanilla in dixie cups and place them out of few, window sills, etc. Vanilla is a natural odor absorber.
Good luck!

Well, if he were my son, oh wait. This is about the smell. It will leave, but you can mask it by turning the furnace fan on and spray room deodorant into the filter.

Sometimes if you wave a damp towel around, it helps absorb burn odors - otherwise bake something that smells really good.

If you have any lemon juice, try spraying this into the air. You can also try steaming some in the microwave, if this is where he cooked the popcorn.
