I'am looking to purchuse a new monitor i seen one that has 3
extra usb ports.My question is would i ever need extra usb ports ?

Maybe. Some people like lots of USB toys.

I would not personally consider USP ports on a monitor to be a major selling point

As long as you like the other aspects of the monitor, I think this is something that is worthwhile - the USB ports for many desktop computers are hard to get to (in the back, low to the floor, etc.) and this type of port would make great sense...

It's just a USB hub, albeit built into the monitor. If you already have front USB ports you don't need it.

yes for such thngs as external camera downloads, external speakers things like that it makes connection very easy becasue they are on the monitor not the computer
