When I had mine the midwife and obstetrician both told me to wait at least a year. Ideally 18 months to 2 years to let the wounds inside heal properly. A rupture of the uterus or abdominal wall could occur in some cases, but I do know a woman who was in the same ward as me when we both had C sections and she became pregnant 3 months later, she was fine but the maternity unit were very concerned and kept a closer eye on her than they normally would. It is better to be safe than sorry.

I was told there were no risks to becoming pregnant again but to wait 6-8 weeks before sex! They usually recommend no more than three births. The scar tissue on the womb is stretched with each birth but its the end of pregnancy rather than the beginning where it can become a danger! All operations are risky and a C-section carrys a risk to the baby too. It is a greater shock to the babies system and they can be effected by the anaesthetic.
I hope this helps.

i am not certain on what time limit after a cesarean, but i am advising on this because my youngest two kids have only 10 months between them and believe me, its hard work. If you can i would wait a while at least 6 months and enjoy your new baby. Its so tiring having a newborn and being in the early stages of pregnancy again, and the two children will still be close in age to have a good bond but at least you can recover.
I always thought it was a year before the midwifes and doctors recommend another pregnancy from one to the other but like i say i am not sure so you are best speaking to a professional about that.
Good luck.

I've looked at Caesareans in detail and looked at a lot of cases.
Two years is, IMO, the minimum. I would suggest AT THE VERY LEAST a year before trying, and if possible waiting longer. We waited three years before trying.
A section is major surgery - and the thing is, being a new mum, you aren't able to rest and recuperate as you would normally do after such a major op, so it can take longer for all the "layers" to heal. You want that area to be as strong as possible for a subsequent pregnancy, to avoid the risk of scar rupture.
In the UK women can choose to try vaginal birth but I believe that in some parts of the USA they insist on giving an elective C-section if you have had even just one already. Unless of course you know already that your medical situation means you already know you will be having/wanting an elective section.

Ideally you should wait two years. You need to give your body time to heal inside and out; you HAVE had major surgery.
Getting pregnant too quickly after a c section means all those injured tissues and ligaments are going to get stretched again, any they may not heal at all.
It's for your own sake that docs prefer you to wait for 2 years.
If you needed another c section the 2nd time, it would be much slower to heal.

I had a c-section 5 months ago, and I haven't found any research on that topic. However, to let you know I have an aunt who had c-sections with all her children and their ages range only 1 year apart. So as long as your incision is healed and your health is ready ask and doc to get the go ahead. Good Luck.

i had a natural delivery and they said not to have sex for 6 weeks after the birth, it may be longer with a c section as it takes longer to heal.
I suppose if the docs said wait 8 weeks before having sex, after that time is over i would say it was ok to get pregnant

It takes about a year to get back to normal. It's major surgery! People don't often realise this. I would give it at least that long. I had one two and a half years ago and it still doesn't feel the same.

A friend of mine was advised a 3 year gap between babies (just over 2 years) after her Ceasarean.
But this was about 5 years ago, and you know how these medical peeps change their minds!
