While United States faces a number of problems, there is none that I see communism a solution. Look at last 50 years of history and see how many countries that embraced communism have changed course. The best communist country that remained is perhaps Cuba, and the worst is North Korea where millions of people are starving. I am not sure you would stay with either of the mentioned countries.

Well, I think that if we adopted Soviet style communism, the problems that most people have today would vanish by tomorrow. Somehow taking everyone's property away and having the police take all sorts of people who are never seen again makes the light and easy problems of most people today seem, somehow, unimportant. And let's not forget the agricultural reforms enacted under Stalin, which caused huge famine .

It's a bottom of the barrel solution, but idiocy springs eternal...

The opportunity to advance, to achieve what you desire? The pursuit of happiness? If those are the problems, then yes my Friend, communism is the answer and would *cure* all those *problems*

In my opinion, I do not consider that we have to take this extreme, however I used to say that "A little bit of socialism is not all that bad". Look at our healthcare situation. There are people who are working one, two and three jobs just to support themselves and their families. There are employers who say that they cannot afford healthcare insurance for their employees. To pay for individual healthcare insurance is expensive and the older a person becomes, the more expensive it is, especially for women. Housing is also expensive, depending on where you live in the United States, yet there are homeless people and about homeless people who don't know where their next meal is comming from or where are they going to live. Grant it that their are shelters that would take in the homeless. Being poor is no fun, and many Americans are struggling "just to get by".

SURE, it's a solution, but at what cost? I doubt that the American people would ever accept the label of communist, much less understand it OR be able to give up what they have in order for this type of a regime to work. It sure is a nice concept, in print only, I fear! :o)
