With like every burp, He'll spit up. It's not like a little dribble of spit up or anything, Normally, It's a whole bunch. Is this normal? Could it be reflux? The formula that we get with WIC is Enfamil Lipil with Iron.

All babies reflux to some extent.

Some are "happy spitters"--it doesn't seem to hurt, no matter how much they spit.

And some are obviously in agony.

(Both my kids had medically diagnosed grade 4 reflux.)

What are your baby's symptoms? Does he go at his bottle like he's not eaten for days, only to refuse to eat a few minutes later? Does he arch his back away from you, hold his body rigid, and scream? Is he inconsolable? (My oldest would scream 14 hours a day every day. Until she was almost 4 months old. It was killer. Up to three hours a day is normal. More than that, consult a doctor.)

Our pediatrician also suggested that we fill a bottle with an ounce of water, and then pour it onto the kitchen counter or the kitchen floor, just so we could get a sense of just how much the kids were really spitting up. An ounce looks like SO MUCH, but it isn't really.

As long as your baby is continuing to gain weight and isn't in pain, it isn't a problem. Well, a laundry problem, maybe, but not a medical one.

But if you see other symptoms, talk to your pediatrician. The medications for reflux won't actually stop the spitting, but they will make your baby more comfortable.

I'm not sure that it is normal, I think you should put a call in to your child's doctor. My baby spits up sometimes, and I'm not sure why, but it sounds like your baby may have reflux, but sometimes changing the formula can help. I don't know where you live but with my wic we get similic advance. Once my baby started drinking that he got really fussy and unhappy so we switched him to the soy formula, which he does well with except for the occasional spit up. But before chaining formulas ask the doc. Good Luck!!

Have WIC switch your son to Enfimal Gentle Ease. Let your doctor know first. If this doesn't work, Enfimal makes a different formula that is for baby's that can't eat soy or milk based formula. Only put your baby on soy based formula as a very last resort.

You might also try using a different bottle. Dr. Brown makes a good bottle and so does Walmart.

If it is projectile then it is most likely reflux and there are medications that can help that. If it just come up without force then it it just normal spit up. My son had reflux and had to be on medication and I also found that nestle good start with comfort proteins was the one formula which he sip up the least. hope that helps!

He might be allergic to the iron or the formula itself. My middle child had an intolerance to her formula, and was placed on a soy based product. It worked wonders. Try switching the formula or better yet breast feed! Also make sure he is burped before any other activity. Nothing worse that projectile vomiting from an infant. Best of luck to you.

Look up a condition called GERD.
I cant pronounce, let alone spell, what it stands for But it is very common in babies. It is a for of infant reflux that prevents babies from keeping their food down. I think my baby may have it too. Were going to the doc tomorrow. Make sure he/she stays hydrated in the meantime. 4-6 wet diapers is a healthy indicator.

Check with your doctor. I had a friend that had a baby that had a bad valve in his esophogus and he spit up a lot.
