hello...do ladies still wear girdles and nylon stockings like the 50s and 60s era ?

hello,i'm an avid fan of women's 50s and 60s foundation underwear.have they dissappeared like the dinosaurs..lol.please i would love to know if ladies are out there that do wear them...byebye

Well I was born in 1989 and I wear nylons nearly every day. Pantyhose are for ole ladies that need control tops and most of the girls I know go for stockings and not pantyhose, Lots of girls wear the lace top kind, but I like the really sheer kind that need a garter belt. They really look hot, and are way more comfortable. My mom says she used to wear them all the time before pantyhose came in, and I can see why. They are way less restricting, and the guys think thy are so hot.

Yes- stockings/pantyhose have never left- Girdles have not either- the material has changed a bit and they are normally only worn by women who want to appear thinner. Roamans.com, lanebryant.com, lanebryantcatalog.com have these items. Very few girdles include BONING- they've moved from actual bone or metal or plastic materials- but some are still out there.

But no it is no longer a standard undergarment staples as in the 50's and 60's. 100% optional.

With the nylons there are different weights of material.
The weight of the material is determined by the number of threads of material per millimeter. The more threads the thicker the nylon.

So it breaks down to 15 denier is ultra sheer
30 denier is sheer
50 denier is opaque
80 denier is tights

The regular Knee High's come in 30 or 50 denier but the newer Trouser socks come in the 80 denier variety so they hold up better.

The market is flooded with girdles for the rising overweight population but now they call it shape wear, and there are no garters attached. These poor women put on control top pantyhose, then put this stretchy shape wear thing overt those, sometimes so long they come to their knees and go around.
