Wow that's a really tough question to answer. I'm only 13 so I will have to answer for my age group. Note- two years older should be double the amount for a 13 year old.

Oh its a different amount for a girl and a boy cause they have different needs of MUST HAVE stuff.

For a 13 year old boy the minimun amount is a $1000. The reason for so little is because they are happy with a few gadgets. Now if you get them cloths that won't count.

For a 13 year old girl the minimum amount to spend is $2000. In that total is included the latest fashions which are a MUST HAVE in this competetive boy environment.

HAPPY SHOPPING and MERRY XMAS!!!!

Honestly, It depends on how responsible is your child. Does he respect the things that you buy him or does it end up trashed on the floor in his room. When my son was that age I didn't more then a $100.00 on him for Christmas. That was mixed things, clothing, video games. For a 15 yr old, when it came to electronics it was under 50. bucks.
Hope you have a wonderful Christmas..

Depends on your relationship with him...but if I was an older friend or mentor or something, probably in the 20-40 dollar category. This can provide a good gift, but not something that would potentially spoil the kid.

I think $100 is safe - however I do realize that people have different budgets. I think that if there is something they want, get it, with a few small things on the side. Thats how we have done christmas at my parents house growing up. We did get what we wanted most of the time :)
