Most Europeans are very cautious about where their food comes from. GMOs are frightening to Europeans because one their not natural and two the effect they may have on the environment in the longterm is totally unknown. But not all of Europe is offically backing this try the website below.

Some of feel that releasing these organisms into the environment, based simply on governments saying "trust us", may be somewhat risky. The word "Frankenstein" is often used.
