I have a skin issue called eczema- and my type of eczema sometimes causes my fingers to swell...

Overnight I pretty much swelled up hugely and can't get my wedding ring off of my finger! I've never swelled up this badly....

So- does anyone have any great tips for getting a ring off your finger if it's stuck??? Thanks!

NOT HOT WATER!!! that would only make your finger swell more. run it under cold water or put ice on it. yes, you should try butter and soap and all those things. if you still don't have any luck you should go to a reputable jewelry store and have them cut it off. i know it's your wedding ring but you don't want your finger to fall off due to poor circulation!!! if it's gold or platinum you can always have the shank remade. when you do get it off, think about having it sized up and use a plastic removable spacer so if this happens again, you can remove the spacer and have enough room to take off your ring.

There are several things you can do.

The first one I always try, is putting my finger inside my mouth, and (this sounds gross, but it usually works for me) gripping the ring with your teeth and trying to pull it off.

However, if the ring has been on for awhile, and you've been trying to pull it off, chances are your finger is swollen even more. If you've managed to slide the ring up a little bit, push it back down to where it usually sits, and soak your finger in cold water for several minutes. Probably 10-15 minutes would do it. The cold will constrict the blood vessels in your finger so the ring is easier to pull off.

What I do when I have to do this is pour some cooking oil on the surface of the cold water. That way, when you pull out your finger, the oil will lubricate the ring and your finger in one step.

If it doesn't work the first time, wait about 15 minutes (avoid playing with the ring, whatever you do!) and then try again.

If it really doesn't come off, and you've tried everything, you may have to get the ring cut off. But let's hope not. ;-)

My ring got stuck when I swelled while being pregnant. I got it off by soaking my hand in cold water (it makes blood vessels constrict and reduces swelling), then I held my hand over my head for a few minutes to try to get the blood to flow out. Next I put dish soap around my ring. Then use a towel (it's will be slippery) to pull it over the knuckle. It worked for me. Good luck to you!

Use a little ice around the ring finger until the area is cold(a couple of minutes)and then use an oil-cooking, or similar- or a good hand lotion

Butter or shortening (like Crisco), or running your hand under cold water, which should cause your finger to shrink a little bit.

Good luck!!

If you have a lotion that you are able to use with the eczema, try using a fair amount of it and it may help.

Mild soap, since you have eczema, and water as hot as you can stand it should get your ring off.
