At 36 weeks I felt Braxton Hicks contractions but have not felt these for atleast a week and now I'm in my 37th week, in the last coulple of days I have felt like i've had sex but haven't, is it possible my cervix is dilating and this is what I am feeling? Can someone help me out because I don't want to have to check my cervix myself and I don't go to the doctor for three more days.

Yep it is possible to be 1cm dilated and not feel contractions.. I'm 28 weeks with my 3rd child and I've been having alot of Braxton hicks contractions i went in 2 weeks ago and they said that i was already a fingertip dilated.. They said that it was normal since I'm pregnant with my 3rd and with my 1st i was 2 cm dilated 2 months before i went into labor... So yes i think that is perfectly normal!! God Bless

When I was pregnant with my first baby at 32 weeks I was already 2cm dilated. I had no idea. By the time I was 36 weeks I was 4cm dilated. I'm pregnant with my second (31 weeks tomorrow) and I've been having a lot of braxton hicks ever since I was about 20 weeks. I go to the doctors in a few more days but I'm not sure if they will do an internal. With my first I didn't get BH contractions and still dilated...I'm thinking I'll already be dliated with this one as well esp because of the BH but watch me be wrong. I wouldn't try to checking yourself. I know you can if you have and use sterile gloves and are very careful. Draw some circles on a piece of paper that are the size of each cm up to 10 and that can give you some idea. If I were you though I'd just wait till I went to the doctors...even though I know it's hard to wait. Good luck!

I was induced at 36 weeks and when I went to the hospital I was dilated to 4 cm and didn't know it. I never had any contractions, just some back pain. I would think that unless your water breaks, you don't have anything to worry about, but if it bothers you call your doctor. They should be able to help you over the phone or know if you need to come into the office. Good luck on the new baby!

I was induced at 38 weeks for unrelated issues. I was 2 cm dialated and had been for about 1 1/2 weeks. When they hooked me to a monitor, I was having contractions. They were just small and I couldn't even tell. Don't worry unless your water breaks, you start bleeding, or you have regular contractions that get closer and stronger. Then call your doctor. That feeling could be your body's way of preparing for childbirth. The baby drops, your hips widen, etc. Good luck!

yes it is possible. my friends sister was dilated 3 cm and hadn't had any pain at all, and this was with her first baby. she had the baby about three days later. she didn't have any pain med. or anything. she didn't need it! she went into full blown labor quickly, so be careful and don't put off getting to the hospital if you feel the need to go. and I hope you have a fast, safe, and easy delivery too.

Yes. In fact, I was 2 and a half centimeters dilated for 2 months and still had to be induced. It sucks because as soon as you know that you are starting to dilate, your hopes soar because you think it will soon be over, don't be discouraged though, Once you have your baby, you will forget this time of pain and anxiousness. Good luck.

It is possible, maybe you are having them but you have a very high tolerance for pain and discomfort.
