There is no avidense that GMO foods are bad for your health, most are modified in order to grow in harsh environments and be more productive. They are injected a gene that, for example in tomatoes, helps them deal with cold climate, by producing sertain compound. Now compound itself is usually harmless to human, when eaten.
Produce grown using pesticides or herbicides can be far more harmfull to your health then GMOs.

Now GMO can be dengerous from ecological point of view, as allowing modified organisms get out into the wild can have bad consequesnces for naturally occuring organisms, in terms of competetion. Usually GMOs are agricultural pants that aren't really good at been weeds (like corn), they cannot grow without our help (fertilizeing soil and weeding), but some have relatives in the wild which can cross with our "tomato" and get that gene into the wild population. So we might end up with wild tomatoes colonizing Arctica. That's an exaguration, but I hope you get what I mean.
