In research we are looking for the manifest of the Mayflower. It was said that many of the passengers were criminals,(religious beliefs was not their crime), seeking assylum in the New Continent. If you know anything or any place to find more info please help?

No one said all were criminals but there is a meaning to this research and this is not to offend anyone or to argue a biased answer. Just a question, thank you for your info.

Found a list of passengers

Might help start in your search as to why they were on the ship.

Hey Magime,

They were not all criminals. Many were indentured servants. Read 'Of Saints and Strangers', that is the best source for a one shot book. But you can go to the mayflower society online to find much of the history. Also, you could read 'Of plimoth plantation' by William Bradford - the Captain of the Mayflower. His personal journal has a history of it's own - seems it was hidden on a shelf in a house for years, then found and realized the value.

You might be able to find these books online free as ebooks. See the gutenberg site.

Anyway, check out these sites:

The History Channel just aired a 3 hour program tonight on The Mayflower. There was no mention of any of the people being criminals, just being Puritans that were persecuted for their religion in a time when religion was nationally mandated. You could go to the History Channel website and see what links they can provide.

I don't think most were. In our geneology, we have much information on the Mayflower. One of the best ways for more information would be to contact the Mayflower Society.
