casting usually takes a long time because you are trying to heal and regrow the broken bone. The cast is there to immobilze the affected part. when you immobilize it in a short time, the bones might not grow properly and you end up with a bent or even still an unhealed fracture. On the other hand, casting for longer than normal is also bad. In your case, I think that the period of casting is just right. it sounds like you have multiple and complete fracture. if you are really worried, ask your doctor and he will explain why you need the cast for a long time. Also, it also depends on your age. Younger people has faster bone growth thus giving a shorter cast time. Good luck

the length of your time in a cast depends on the severity of your injury, and by the way you've described it, its not just a normal broken bone. My friend broke his arm in i think 2 places right near his elbow in july when he was skim boarding, and hes still in a cast, and probably wont be out of one by spring. Since it's broken in 5 parts and fractured in 4, its going to take longer for your arm to heal as a whole. If you really are questioning it, you can go see another doctor to get a second opinion, but why spend the extra money if its likely that they will tell you to take the same amount of time? plus, the longer you let it heal, the better it will be in the long run

sounds like to me you should almost need pins if the breaks were severe enough and you might need to be in a cast for threee months or so and the the brace for a long time to come when i broke my arm the first time i broke it in four places and was in a cast for three months the day after i got out of my cast and was wearing my brace i broke it again because i wasnt healed enough for the bone to get it strength back so i would recomend following the doctors orders and his advice.

i became on the roof throughout the time of a warm summer time day fixing the CB antenna and thank you to the warmth i became eating somewhat some beer. nicely, I have been given it fixed and because I had climbed up and not employing a ladder, i assumed i could desire to lay on my abdomen on the roof and slide my legs over the sting and inch in the direction of the sting of the roof slowly and surely till my legs may be approximately 4 or 5 ft above the floor then fall thoroughly something of ways. incorrect!! it rather isn't any longer somewhat the way it finished. I landed on my heels as a replace of my ft and fell over backwards onto my butt and the two one in all my rearwardly prolonged hands. snapping my hands purely above the wrists, breaking the two one in all them on the comparable time. did you recognize that it rather is impossible to "wipe your butt" after taking a sell off once you have casts masking your hands from the hands to the elbows. that's once you come across out if there is each and each guy or woman who's REALLLY your chum. wish this kinda makes your day.

If it's broken that badly then yes, it probably is normal but you should ask an orthopaedic surgeon.
