Because right now i am drinking a beer and smoking a cigarette, and it is just Not helping. There is no Reason for my depression right now, i just feel down...

Beer is a depressant. You won't feel better until you can hardly feel anything at all probably. You could smoke some herbs, but I hear some people actually get depressed off that (ppssh as if!) Listen to music. dark and angry music actually makes me feel less overburdened by depression. As if the music is feeding off of the hate for humanity that burns deep in my lower chakras.

When I feel sad and down, I usually find a way to alleviate the pain. A healthy way for me is to talk with a friend, and to get out of myself. But sometimes it happens too much or too long and I make the mistake of doing the wrong thing. If I am getting sick, I go to the doctor. There is a lot of good treatment for clinical depression.

I do a process of re-sensitizing myself. I turn off all my pleasures so when I go back to those things that used to give me pleasures they will make me feel happy again! Try it it works.
Most people say when you're sad do what you love, but when you're so empty usually even doing what you once loved turns out to feel pointless and stupid.
The key is to challenge your mind, go through some hard ****- so you can feel happy again when you go back to your 'comfy objects.'
You just need more challenges in life. I don't mean that in a negative or insulting way btw but for now doing recreational things probably won't help much, try to let it go for a bit and then go back to smoking and drinking beer. =)

Take the quiz. Not as acurate as true depression inventories but you usually have to buy those or take it at a local community mental health center.

you give power to what you resist - just "allow" yourself to be depressed - that very moment - dont think about the future, the past - just feel it. Strange thing, it goes away usually -it'll come back. Keep doing it. it will keep going away

Go for mountain hiking, sight seeing, see the sunshines and feel the wind, bring your favorite book or music, and relax.
