We're not skipping Christmas, although we think it's become too materialized. These days it's all about how much someone spends on you...people care more about the cost of their present than what the present actually is. So, we're boycotting buying presents. This year we made the rule that anything we give to people must be homemade. The only things we're allowed to buy are things we need to make the present..and then we're trying to use second hand items to cut down on costs. Some people will say that we're just being cheap, but to us it's supposed to be the thought that counts..not the price tag, and I'm also trying to instill in my son that Christmas is about helping others, going out of your way to do nice things for them. Even at 6 he falls into the commercialization trap.

Don't know about the Kranks. Personally I refuse to celebrate Christmas because of the crass commercialism associated with the holiday.

Well we're not exactly skipping Christmas, but my husband and I are not exchanging gifts until after Christmas. We take $200.00 and put that aside for after Christmas shopping and that's when we buy each others Christmas present.
